Week 57 - Pizza!!!!!!!!!!!!! and Transfers

We have been working out, running, walking, doing yoga on the beach in the morning :)

Hello!...Big stuff this week!

Last Monday was super fun, Stephanie took us to the Nubble lighthouse. Unfortunately most of the pictures are blurry :(:( but it was still fun!

We had MLC Mission Leadership Council.......

And we also had ZLC Zone Leadership Councils.....

...and interviews this week, so that was crazy. But good!

We have had some wonderful miracles this week, so it makes it hard to be leaving this area. It's funny, if 3 months ago I heard myself say that I would have been floored. But I have tried and tried and I have gotten to see the Lord bless this area with some amazing things....We passed off Mike and two other people to the Somersworth Elders officially and had a bit of a drop fest to start the next transfer fresh with the people who are actually progressing which decreased our teaching pool a lot.

We have been doing some great work with the ward. John Wood (recent convert) has come to lessons with us and it is awesome! We also have some youth lined up to come with us this next week which will be great!

Tom is back! We had a lesson and we used the "Elder Bennet method" to identify and resolve concerns. We asked what concerns he had and he said, it was a big change. And we said okay, what are your other concerns. And he couldn't think of any. Haha! So we asked if we were understanding right and that the only thing holding him back is that it is a big change. And he said yes. So I hope that helps him take a leap of faith!!!

Okay, BIGGEST MIRACLE I HAVE HAD ON MY MISSION! We were introduced to a man named Brian by a ward member, and this last week we had a pizza dinner/ lesson with him. Brian has been studying the church on his own for 6 YEARS!!!!!!!! He has read I don't know how may books. He ordered himself a quad, he loves the articles of faith, he has listened to some conference talks. Really it was an incredible lesson. We asked if he would like to be baptized and he said ," Of course, that is the next step, I just want to go to church first". WHAT! It was incredible, we testified to him, and he basically testified back. The spirit was so strong and it was so cool. I am really sad I won't be here to teach him, but honestly there probably isn't too terribly much he needs to be taught, it was amazing!

We made a miracle video afterwords to send to our zone- and in it we are telling them all about what happened and then I say, "...and he gave us..." and I reached into the backseat of the car to grab this Deseret Book book about Joseph Smith that he gave us, and as I'm grabbing it Sister Tobler yells, "Pizza!!!" and holds up the pizza box! hahah! She finished my sentence, just not in the right way - haha! So the elders made a funny remix of it. I will try to send them!

Okay... so get this. Usually transfer calls come after 9:30 at night. So we are finishing a dinner appointment at 7:30 and the members are showing us there cute yard and then our phone starts ringing...... and it is President Blair!......We didn't really realize until he called, but we had honestly thought that there wasn't going to be changes with Portsmouth. But obviously that wasn't the case.....

Sister Tobler will be staying here and receive Sister Parker who will be a new STL. President told us a little about Sister Parker and then gave me very short transfer news: I will be going to Bedford, NH with Sister Holmes and he said that I'd "work closely with Sister Blair and I" and be the new STLT (Sister Training Leader Trainer). Which probably doesn't mean much to anyone at home....But the easiest way to describe it is that we will be the Sister Assistants to the President.

We'll be over all the other Sister Training Leaders in the mission and over all the Sisters in the mission. We will go on many exchanges, present training at zone conferences, and who knows what else! I will let you know! It will be busy, and it will be stressful! Haha!

We were surprisingly surprised about this transfer news. I have grown to love this area and the people and I have made lasting friendships here. It is hard to leave right when I feel like we are finally on the cusp of some big things!! But I will go where I am called.

I read a scripture this morning that is kind of my theme right now, it is 2 Nephi 4:34-35:

34 O Lord, I have trusted in thee, and I will trust in thee forever. I will not put my trust in the arm of flesh; for I know that cursed is he that putteth his trust in the arm of flesh. Yea, cursed is he that putteth his trust in man or maketh flesh his arm.

35 Yea, I know that God will give liberally to him that asketh. Yea, my God will give me, if I ask not amiss; therefore I will lift up my voice unto thee; yea, I will cry unto thee, my God, the rock of my righteousness. Behold, my voice shall forever ascend up unto thee, my rock and mine everlasting God. Amen.

Love you all!!!!!

Have a fantastic week!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Week 55 - Multiple-Personality ????

Hi hi!!!

So it was an awesome week here! We found a lot of new people and had some new friends come to church!!!! I am so happy! We are busy and running around and meeting new people and going new places, and working with members and it is so fun!

I remember when I first came to this area, and I expressed how much hope and faith I had in the area. And I had never had more hope for something in my life. But I felt disappointed for a few months and it was really really hard. But I am finally seeing things start to pick up here and it fills me with joy.

We have a giant teaching pool - SO BIG! But our goal now is to get people actually progressing and progressing well in it. And take care of those people we have.

The most noteworthy right now are probably Mike, Grace and Tom. Mike we found at the park and he is looking to turn his life around. He wanted to meet the pastor- so we set up a church tour and it went wonderful. He came to church and loved it and is excited to learn!

Grace is a really sweet YSA who also came to church to hear Sister Tobler speak and then set up another appointment for herself right after. We want her to have more intent of applying what we are teaching though.

TOM IS OUT IN UTAH!! AND IS SEEING MY FAMILY TONIGHT!!!!!So exciting! He had some great faith statements on the phone the other day that show his faith is increasing!

We went on exchange with the Bedford sisters. I went with Sister Warren and she is awesome and such a good sport. We got SOAKED in the rain and met some really cool people.

Sister Tobler and I are good! We are getting into a good groove of finding together which is really fun!

Also, sad news....my Missionary Facebook profile got reported and shut down for "impersonation". Maybe because I have a home account as well. It is making F.B really hard because .....well I can't use it haha. It is GONE! AHHHHHHHHHH!!!! So I guess I'll have to 'missionary-ize' my old account and re-friend a ton of people and try to track down the people I have met from my past areas!!! Grrr- it is going to be a lot of work. Guess you aren't allowed to have multiple personalities....

Speaking of multiple personalities.............haha! There is this rouge less-active person who we randomly found a little while ago and is super nice, but she makes really strange comments during lessons. So we went on Sunday and she started out by giving us a gift. Which was a brown paper sack with hot coco packets and tea packets, and buried at the bottom of the sack......was tampons and pads. hahahahaaha! So funny, but hey!...really nice of her!.............Anyway-mid lesson-she was talking about all these voices she hears and she was trying to make it scripture-related, but it wasn't really making sense - So Sister Tobler started asking these questions to diagnose her mental state during the lesson! haha so funny! Maybe I'm not the only one with multiple personalities?? or Schizophrenia. Not sure. But hey!....we got some herbal tea - so that's cool!.

Also spiritual note. After our church tour with Mike he sent us a really awesome text it said: "Thank you so much for the tour. I felt accepted and welcomed by all those I met. I felt comfortable and peaceful. And thank you so much for allowing me to say the prayer at the end-that meant a lot to me."

It just strengthened my testimony of our job to teach people how to pray because we are helping children of God communicate with their Father and that is such a beautiful concept.

I love you all!!!

Have a wonderful week!!

Week 54 - Tuggin' people to Salvation

SO GUESS WHAT?!...

This week we were driving from Portsmouth, New Hampshire to Kittery, Maine and we were on this bridge then we all had to stop because the bridge was lifting up and this GIANT boat was coming through! It was so cool!

We got out of our car and it was a beautiful summer night and everyone else got out of their car and we were all taking pictures and having a great time.

And there was these two little tugboats on each side of this giant ship and the nice old man next to us explained that they were directing the ship so that is stays in the deepest part of the channel and makes it through the bridge. The little boats would honk at each other and drive from one side to the next guiding this ship. Obviously neither of them were strong enough to push or pull this giant ship on their own, but they were simply their as guides to show the way without force.

Sister Tobler and I then made this analogy about how we were like a little companionship of tugboats, guiding those we are teaching to and down the straight and narrow channel. We can't force them, they have their agency, but we work our best and communicate with each other and the gatekeeper (Christ). To help people along as they work to enter the gate of baptism.

SO COOL!!

Other highlights of this week included exchanges with both of our sets of Sisters. One was Hermana Vaitai who is a visa-waiter for Panama and she is awesome!

........and the other was with my Sister Haner!! Ah she is fantastic! I love her!

There was one day that we ate out for Every. Single. Meal.....and it was fun but we felt sooo sick! haha

We also moved into our new apartment! We had to clean a little bit after the elders were there... (and the tub was grooooossssssss!).....but its all good now! haha!

We had a lesson/walk with Tom where we walked his dog through the beautiful New England woods and read Mosiah Chapter 3 to him! It was great! HE COMES TO UTAH NEXT WEEK!!

We also got some lame anti-Mormon stuff from this guy who was really cool at first......so that was a bummer...but its alright!

But I know that NO EFFORT IS WASTED in missionary work and in life. I know that God knows the intents of our heart and all the good we are striving to do and it is recognized by Him. Please remember that in your day-to-day lives as disciples of Christ!

I love you all!

Love,
Sister Tugboat Brady
