Week 44 - Mosquitoes and Miracles!

WOW!....What a week. This is the best week I have had in Portsmouth so far!

We broke our record of new people found to teach this week and followed crazy prompting to walk in random places or knock on random doors. I actually tracted a little bit which was new for me-didn't result in too much but hey we tried.

Had some awesome exchanges with the Sisters in Derry and with the Sisters in Somersworth. I love exchanges, it is so fun to switch it up a little and learn something new from other Sisters and just see all these miracles!!

Sister Sellers and I are having a great time together and we both come up with these silly little dance moves to all of these songs and sing all the time and its the best! haha!

I am just extremely grateful for this week, and I have said lots of "gratitude prayers".

Also, it is getting wicked hot and humid here and the bugs are coming!!!! Ah!! I am wearing bug spray and trying to stay away from anything crazy.

We had a super fun district p-day today where we went mini-golfing and got burritos and ice cream and then went to the beach!

Something that I have learned this week is to be open to change your plans according to the spirit. Our finding time this week was planned but it was the least structured I have ever had so we were praying and relying on the spirit as we went, and it must have worked. I have noticed that when we heed the whispers of the Holy Ghost they get a little bit easier to reconize. Then we can reconize other promptings as they continue coming (like the prompting I had to grab a charger and then our phone surpisngly drained all its battery haha).   I am so grateful that we can have the Holy Ghost as our constant companion to guide us to make the most of the opporunties God gives us.

I love you!

I hope you have a great week!

Sister Brady

Week 43 - Scripture Power!

Anchored in Christ 😉

This week we had zone conference and interviews with President Blair, which was awesome!

Most of our zone conference was about using the Book of Mormon because it is our greatest and most powerful tool in conversion. Scripture Power!

The next day I marked a bunch of verses like I really liked and had personal meaning to me. Then instead of giving out just a normal copy to someone we met on the street we would give them one with some of the best parts highlighted. And we saw some great miracles!!! I am so grateful for the Book of Mormon, I find more joy in it each time I read it.

President gave some great encouragement for the work here and said if we continue to be obedient and continue doing our best then we are doing what we need to.

Oh - I also got to go on exchange with Hermana Wallace and we had a blast! We gave out some scriptures, met some crazy people outside a motel, and then had the COOLEST MOMENT EVER! We went to go stop in on one of their investigators who is on date for baptism and his sister came out and asked who we are and what we do. So we explained and she got super excited and said " Oh I have this song, I think it is about Jesus can I show it to you?"....we were a little nervous but then she pulls out one of the songs that all the missionaries out here love by Hillsong United, and we totally sang this song with her by the beach! With this beautiful sunset! It was so crazy and so cool! One of my favorite moments of my mission! And now she is investigating as well!

It is those little moments and little miracles that are why we are out here and I am very grateful for them!

I love you !

Sister Brady

Week 42 - Mother's Day

This week we went on a couple exchanges and that was really fun. I went with Sister Taylor one day and with Sister Jones another day. Here's a picture Sister Taylor and I:

We are doing a lot of finding, and not seeing much "success" right now, but we keep on pressing forward and trying to be creative and work hard every day.

The best thing this week was that Mother's Day happened! On Saturday and  Sunday we walked around downtown Portsmouth and gave people flowers for mother's day and most people were really happy about it!

Then we got to call home! And I got to see my beautiful family!!! And my beautiful mom!!

I am so grateful for her and all she has done for me and our family. I have seen since being out here, lots of homes, lots of parents and many ways I do and do not want to raise my family. You really can recognize the spirit in a home, and tell when "love is spoken here". I know in my home we say "I love you" A LOT. So much that sometimes my friends have commented on how much we say it! But I wouldn't want it any other way.

I am so grateful for the love of a parent that we get to take some special time to recognize this last weekend. I am also growing increasingly more aware of the love of our Heavenly Parents for us. And how that love never diminishes, and just like I want to make my parents here on earth proud, I want to make my Heavenly Parents proud as well. A couple months ago I made a goal to express love to Heavenly Father more frequently, morning, night, and every meal at least. And now it is just part of how I pray and it has changed how I pray. I challenge you do find a way to express love for your Heavenly, and earthly parents.

Love you all!

Sister Brady

Week 41 - MessoZONEic Era

As Zone Leadership, each month we get to come up with a Zone theme for the month and make specific action steps based on what we need to do to improve as a zone to be more effective, diligent, and obedient missionaries. BUT that doesn't mean that we can't have fun. Sometimes the theme is things like,  "Believe" or "Feed my Sheep", but other times we have themes like this month...... Dinosaurs! haha!

Our zone is having a blast with this we have action steps like:
  • Meteor Shower, about dropping BOMS (Book of Mormon)
  • Don't let your companionship Go Extinct - meaningful comp inventory (resolving problems lovingly)
  • And Tear up the Streets- telling the Zone each time you find a New investigator! (usually with some Dino pun involved).

I love how we can be fun and obedient at the same time!

News around here, Tom made some awesome faith statements saying ," It just feels right" and "I notice a difference". Also Jon who we had only taught one lesson to agreed to come and watch a baptism which is amazing!

Sister Sellers and I really just want the work to fly here so we are trying new things and working hard.

Now I am just going to say a little bit about my dear Elder Harmon. Apparently, he has been facing serious health trials for the majority of his mission and has honorably returned home to the U.S to get the medical treatment he needs.
I am so so proud of him and the full-time missionary he has been. I know that he has a strong and beautiful testimony of our Savior and His Atonement, because he shares it with me every single time I hear from him. I am so grateful to be a witness of his dedicated heart and love for his mission, the people and the Lord. I know that he truly has served and will continue to serve in different capacities with all his heart, might, mind and strength. I am so grateful for the example he is to me and to my brothers and sister and all those around him. Please keep him in your prayers and if you see him give him a big hug from Sister Brady :)

A mission is beautiful, wonderful, hard, emotional journey, but as baptized members of the church, we have all taken His name upon us, and must always love and serve Him and His children wherever and whenever that may be.

I love this gospel, and the peace it brings.

Love,
Sister Brady

Look who I found!!....Bishop Smart's Brothers!!!! They remembered me from when we met in American Fork!
