Week 27 - MIRACLES! NEXT WEEK 3X THE MIRACLES Because..... Drum-roll....

Hello hello!

Crazy P-Day today! We have zone P-Day today and we are at the Lowell, Massachusetts chapel, which is forever-and-a-half away from away from Keene, NH! So we had to do super speedy grocery shopping and cleaning and prepping our apartment for........ I'll tell you later! (hehe)

This week we broke our own personal records for people at church and new investigators found! Which is so so exciting! We found 3 families!?!?! What?! I have been praying for families! I really hope they follow through and end up being solid!

We have been tying up any loose ends for the baptisms this next week in lessons, and our 2 baptism candidates are doing WONDERFUL! They are both so so excited! In church yesterday they were announcing their baptisms in every meeting which was so exciting, and also really good for all our our investigators that were there this week! We had 2 recent converts (Claude and Chris) there and a less-active there that we have been working with.

More good news!!! Makenson (Claude's son) is getting baptized!! And guess who he wants to baptize him! His DAD!! Claude!! This family is my favorite! I love them so much, but there are so many members of that family that I don't even know them all! They all speak Haitian, so that is hard. But laughs and smiles are universal! haha

Sister Aponte's nephew living with her and he is really interested in learning! It is crazy! He came to church and everything. He is excited to progress but asked us to be patient with him.

Sorry this is rushed but finally the news we have all been waiting for.........TRANSFER NEWS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

We have been dying to hear about transfers because we are on the edge of so many amazing things and neither of us wanted to leave! We are working really well together and having a lot of fun! (We are in lessons most of the time and there isn't even much time to take picures... I'm sorry I'm trying)!!

The whole day and weekend we heard nothing about transfer news. As we were driving home late last night, the phone started ringing.....and it was President Blair.....What!?  President said that the Lord has a funny sense of humor. He asked how it was going, then said that there are only 2 new sister missionaries coming out this transfer from the MTC, and he wants one of them to be trained in Keene! But.......he said he doesn't want to split up a great companionship. Sooooo.......WE ARE TRIO TRAINING!! AHHH.....I am so excited! It is like the best of all worlds! Sister Allen and I get to stay and continue all of our great stuff, and this new Sister is coming to the BEST AREA EVER!!!

Pray for us! :D

I just want to share quick testimony that the more I learn about the Gospel of Jesus Christ and His Kingdom here on the the earth, the more beautiful I realize it is! I love it! and I love our Savior! And I love Keene! And I love being a missionary!!!

Love YOU - Sister Brady!!

Week 26 - "Hey, I'm down to meet and get closer to God"

WHAT AN AMAZING WEEK FOR OF MIRACLES HERE IN KEENE!!! So many great things!

While teaching Gene, we knew that one of the last things holding him back was tithing. It is a HARD commandment for any of us, but especially for Gene as he lives in a 10x12 log cabin, off the grid. He doesn't have home insurance and the city doesn't recognize his place as an actual home. He doesn't have electricity or water or power or heat. And we are teaching him about his law of tithing. Last week, he said that he didn't think he could do it. So we prepared this lesson. Where we taught about the sacrifices of the early saints. Then Sister Allen played and I sang,  "Come come ye Saints". And taught how they emphasized on the "All is well". Gene picked out lyrics he liked about how the trials we have now are nothing in the eternal perspective. We then tied it into tithing, and he totally shocked us! He said: "yeah i want to do it, I just need to know how much and how". WHAT!? So we asked, "Gene after you are baptized will you live the law of tithing," and he said, "After I'm baptized!? I need these blessings now!!" hahahaha HE IS AMAZING!!!

Then Gene and Kelly passed their BAPTISMAL interviews and now we are figuring out details for their baptisms. (We want them both to have a special individual experience and we weren't planning on them being ready to go for the same weekend! I guess it is a good problem to have though!).

President Blair came to interview Gene and Kelly - after their interviews, we had an accidental, unplanned party. We ended up having 2 members of the Bishopric, President and Sister Blair, the Relief Society President, us, and Gene and Kelly all together eating soup in the chapel. haha

One of the days we had all of our appointments fall through (Boo). So we grabbed some shovels from the church and asked people if we could shovel their driveways because it was dumping snow!!!!!! This pic is for all my friends in Central/South America hahah!!

Our Haitian member Claude was given the priesthood, and that was a very very special experience. It was us, him, his son, and the Bishopric. We know they can't understand all that was said, but we know they understood what they felt. After the blessing, he just couldn't stop smiling, he shook all of our hands and then the Bishop gave him a huge hug, and he was just smiling. And then he just sat down on his seat with his face in in hands and cried and cried. He has been waiting so long. He said when he was 15 missionaries taught him in Haiti and "taught him the truth". And now he is well on his way on the path that leads to eternal life. There now is a priesthood holder in their home and the family is going to see so many blessings. So so amazing.

We found so many investigators this week which was really fun! Some of them are just hilarious people that we aren't sure how solid they are, but hey, we are doing what we have been taught and inviting everyone to learn. However, this week we are going to be praying specifically to find quality rather than quantity. Truly prepared people. And I have such a strong desire to find a family. Oh I would love to teach a family so badly.

Also Chris-our recent convert- took us to Applebees because he is the best and now he is a member so he signs up to feed us all the time haha!

Also we had an amazing lesson with a kid our age. He was taught before, then moved and now he is back. when we were setting up the appointment he texted us and said, "hey I'm down to meet and get closer to God". I just thought it was the funniest thing! hahah! And when we asked him if he wanted to be baptized he said, yes for 3 reasons. 1-to rid him self of guilt and shame 2-to get closer to Christ 3-to start over new. So basically he is quoting Preach my Gospel hahaha SO GREAT!

Sister Allen and I are doing really well. We are working hard and have really taken on a culture of goal setting and striving for improvement and reviewing progress within ourselves. Our biggest hardship is probably time, because we are just running from appointment to appointment and are trying to make time to evaluate right after teaching but seem to not be able to, so we are working on that. We are also finding joy in the work and keeping each other laughing and smiling-we are so excited for all the wonderful things the Lord has entrusted us with here in Keene and love it.
I am doing well! I am so so amazed and excited about all these wonderful things we are right on the edge of!

BLESSINGS BLESSINGS BLESSINGS.
God is good. This is His work.

love,

Sister Jenna Brady

Week 25 - "I want a Book of Mormon!"...and,"I want to get Baptized!"

Hello everyone!

First off, thank you so so much for all the birthday wishes!!!

I can't reply to everyone on Facebook and everything, but I so appreciate you all!  I don't' like that I am 20 though...that's too old! haha!

This week was great! Pretty normal in a good way! We had lots and lots of lessons! :) Which is such a blessing! Really, we don't have much time for finding because we have so many lessons! One of the people we did find and started teaching was a sweet old lady who is in a wheelchair and doesn't have any legs, but loves Jesus so much! By the end of our first time conversation with her she was crying because she was so happy to see good young people and she knew God sent us to her so she would have some meaning to life.

Our return appointment with her was so cute. We helped her with a couple little thngs around her apartment and then we sat down said and she said, "So what are we going to talk about? Can we talk about baptism?....That's what the chapter in the book you gave me was about!"....hahah...What!? SO cool! She wants to be baptized just how Christ was baptized! I Love it!

So the morning of my birthday Saturday I made myself CINNAMON ROLLS for breakfast!

That day I also had a Wonderful, Wonderful birthday dinner at the Hausers....our Ward Mission Leader's house! They got a recipe from my mom and made my favorite meal from home!

And they made me more CINNAMON ROLLS!!!!!

I LOVE CINNAMON ROLLS ALMOST AS MUCH AS I LOVE THE GOSPEL!

And Kelly and Rose made me cupcakes! SO CUTE :-) I Love Them :-) Super great!

Our friend from Liberia wants us to come visit him and talk about 'God in Africa' with him someday. So that's cool! Believe it or not, on my mission here in New England I feel pretty cultured! I have met and talked with a good amount of Muslim people, who are super nice. I've had Iranian food. We teach our Haitian family - who are so great! They are always watching Liberian movies (that we try not to see) We have other investigators from Liberia. And then on Christmas Eve we talked to this nice Mexican man and once again proved that I am terrible at speaking Spanish! haha!

Last night we had a lesson where there was 6 adults and a 3-year old - when we were expecting only 2 adults. It was crazy and all over the place. Although, by they end they were all saying things like: "I want a Book of Mormon!" and: "Oh I want one too" and: "I would love to get baptized" and: "Yeah! How can I do that?".....It was insane! But we really need to make sure they understand all that goes into baptism first! :-)

President Monson's funeral was really, really sweet. It was special for us missionaries because he is the Prophet that assigned our mission calls. I am so extremely grateful for him and all he has done for the Kingdom of God. I am also excited to welcome in our new Prophet this week! :-)

I love you all!

Love,

Sister Brady

Week 24 - Grounded.......

Hello Hello!!

I hope you are all having a lovely lovely week! This week was Happy cold snowy January! I love it!

Our fingers are cold but our hearts are warm!!!  I love being a missionary even if it is -21 degrees.....*laughing crying emoji*, *crying emoji* hahah!

This week was a little bit slower number wise. We were not getting as many new investigators as usual- lots of people were just saying no even though they were really nice. We are always talking about ways we can improve, so this week we were talking a lot about what we could change in our finding.

Also church attendance was really low due to the cold weather and some last minute ride complications and such. So we were pretty sad about that. We are going to be extra diligent in our church planning this week. BUT we had 3 less actives at church who we have been working with! So that was super exciting!!

Also this week we got "grounded" one day! Which meant we couldn't use our car and then they made it so we couldn't even leave our apartment!!! We tried to use the Lord's time wisely and make the most of every minute and still do missionary work. It actually turned out great! We used some of the wonderful tools the Lord has given us... smart phones, Facebook, messenger, video chat, etc. And had some lessons and good Gospel conversations a number of people!

We got some cool phone calls/texts this week.  On the way home from District Meeting (which was a day later because of weather) We got a phone call from an inactive member and he said "Hi!.. I have been inactive for a while now and I really have missed the blessings of the church, and I would like to come back"... SO COOL! Then somehow our schedule opened up and we were able to see him. And he has such a fire!!! He is back and ready to go and he would be a great fellow-shipper for so many people!

We got a call from Ronda and she said, "Hi Sisters this is Ronda, first off I would like to schedule a baptism date..." What!?

Then we got a text from Tom saying, "So if I were to join the church how would I go about doing that... it quite possibly is something I want to do". Wow!

And we set a date with Mandi who is a great mom and is going to be a kingdom builder! We have said lots of gratitude prayers :).

Kinda slow progress with some others and helping some through Word of Wisdom issues, but we have faith!!!

I went on exchanges with Sister Bannon to Lowell Massachusetts! It was super fun! She was trained in Bath, Maine too so we know a lot of the same people and she is hilarious and I love her!! She is a pretty recent convert actually and her testimony is AWESOME!!

So it was the most hipster day of my mission. We went to this cool little hipster strip mall for finding and talking to this soap maker guy from Greece for a long time. Talked to people about Yoga and custom printed lettering cards and somehow always tied it back to the gospel! haha. So cool! Then we went and had a lesson with this guy at this super healthy vegan place that was actually yummy. He is GOLDEN! Really guys!....he has even memorized the Articles of Faith! What!?So cool!!!

Anyway numbers may not show it but it was a super cool week. I can't wait for the next week :)

Peace out from your Hipster Missionary

Sister Brady :)

Week 23 - New Year....New CHRIS!

Guess what everybody?!!!! CHRIS GOT BAPTIZED!!!

Ahhhhhhh! We are so happy and he is so happy and God is so happy and we are all so happy!!
He is so great!!! He will be attending the YSA ward, but we will see what we will be doing with New member lessons. Also, he is making us Shepherd's Pie for us this week, so that will be fabulous!

It has been a wonderful week here in Keene!! We found more investigators than we ever have before and it is just miracle after miracle!! And we will see how all of their return appointments go!!

We had the opportunity to speak at the re-baptism of a now new member and it was a really small service but it was very very spirit filled.

We also set a new baptismal date with Gene!...Ah!..he is the best. He has a fire testimony of the Book of Mormon and is so great. He has been bringing his friend Aaron to lessons and Aaron was asking about why we need to not smoke and Gene just starts quoting scriptures about "Be ye clean", and "Our bodies being a temple for our spirit", and Sister Allen and I were happily shocked. It was awesome! haha

And we started the 'Stop Smoking' program with Kelly, and wow!...she is a rock star!! She has SO MUCH FAITH!! It is truly inspiring. The first step was to crush the pack of cigarettes she had. She didn't just crush the box like we asked, but she pulled each of them out of the box and snapped them each into tiny pieces!!!  Wahoo!!!!!

I love this "all in" attitude that she has shown us. I hope each of us when we realize we need to make changes in our lives we go "all in" and then rely on the Lord to make it happen according to His will. I am learning so much from these people!!!

We also set some goals to share with President in our interviews. My Mission goals are:
  1. To LOVE!!! Love God, Christ, those I teach, my companion, and the work
  2. Have JOY in the work
  3. Be a good TEACHER
  4. Reflect Christ's LIGHT
  5. Be exactly OBEDIENT
  6. Witness MIRACLES

We have been sharing the story of the Brother of Jared with members and discussing how he was left to come up with a plan on his own. He found these meager stones and brought them to the Lord - and the Lord touched them and lit them up even brighter than what the Brother of Jared had planned.

As we set goals and make plans and bring them to the Lord, He will bless them and light them up! I hope this encourages you on your righteous goals this new year.

Also it is FREEZING!!! Like -3 Freezing! But it is expected to get into the -teens sometimes, so we are dying! haha

WE HAD CHICK-FIL-A!!!!!!!!!!!!   I have been waiting 5 1/2 months for this!!!!

Ah!....The Church is True Friends!

Love you!!

Love, Sister Chick-fil-a
