Week 5 - LOBSTAH!!

Hello Hello!
It has been a busy busy week! (but what week isn't busy as a missionary!) So I wrote down a couple things from each day!   I'll explain a few.

MONDAY:  Car Problems. Elders Laundry. BEAUTIFUL FHE with YSA in Harpswell.

We have been having issues with our car for days so finally we ended up just getting a new battery, but it took up a lot of our day. Also because the Elders kept jump starting it for us we helped them out with laundry because we have a washer and drier and they don't!

And then that night we had FHE with the young single adults in the place called Harpswell and it was GORGEOUS! ON THE OCEAN! This little Utah girl doesn't get to see the ocean too much so that was amazing! and the YSA's are so nice and fun!

TUESDAY: Jehova Witnesses. Youlands. Brian. Met Fletch! Neighborhood. Concert.

So while we were doing our morning studies we had a knock at the door . We went and answered it, and the look on that lady's face was HILARIOUS! she said "Oh! the Witnesses meet the Mormons!" HAHA Then we had a good chat about a verse in the Bible and then she moved on! We had lunch with the Youlands who are a really nice couple. She is a member but he isn't. But they just really love missionaries!  (there are a lot of people here like that that LOVE missionaries but aren't interested in the gospel.....grrrrr). We also met our new investigator: "Fletch" who is really cool. Then we helped at "The neighborhood" soup kitchen. Which marks 1 WEEK of me being in the field!!

WEDNESDAY: District Meeting. Micheal. Nancy. Dinner at Atwood. Skunk under the porch. Surprise visit to Robin. Shower rod.

We went to visit a less active lady named Nancy and stopped by her neighbors. So this Micheal guy has a little baby and is looking for a religion to raise her in! And then get this!!!...yesterday HE called US! And asked if we would teach him more about the Book of Mormon when we came because he really likes it! CRAZY!

There are skunks everywhere!...So that's scary.

And our shower curtain broke while I was in there so also scary.

THURSDAY:
Car/apartment check. Donated blood. Help Investigator Carol Ann in garden. 12-week dinner..

Not much to tell. But we do live in a tourist town - so that's pretty cool!

FRIDAY: Met some cRaZy people! Honestly. Crazy. People. But they were a nice crazy and not mean crazy - so that was good. But really I had NO IDEA what they were talking about.

SATURDAY: LOBSTER!!!

It was so yummy and soooooo messy and the place we were at was the same as on Monday!

Ah gorgeous!! We have some fun pictures :) we were for sure the entertainment for the evening hahah!

Thank you all for being so supportive! I love you and miss you!!

Love Sister Brady

Week 4 - Splish Splash I was taking a BATH!...in Bath, Maine!

Hello Hello!!!

Wow!! I haven't gotten to write for two weeks and let me tell you it was probably the most eventful two weeks of my life ! So I will attempt to sum it up!

So I AM HERE! IN THE MISSION FIELD!!

My companion is Sister Anderson and she is from Ephraim, Utah and she is so cute and I love her already. We keep joking that we are the same person because we tell each other about our lives and we have so many things in common! She actually has only been out here 3 months and just barely finished training and then started training me! WOW!

We are in the Topsham, Maine area, serving in the Topsham Ward and it is WONDERFUL! But it is also a little misleading because we actually live in the CUTEST little town called Bath Maine :) So, if you want to do any research about where I am living and teaching, look  up Bath, Maine! I seriously love it and it is so perfect for me. Its nickname is the "City of Ships" and it has the most adorable main street and a beautiful huge river and they have music on the dock and farmer's markets and all kinds of carnivals and stuff!

And the people are SO NICE!! Really, they will talk and talk and are all really kind! The humidity isn't too bad actually and the weather has been wonderful (just one rainy day). The only bad thing so far is SKUNKS!!....eww! Oh and also our little apartment is super cute too!

Ok, Let's back track a bit to ages ago…….my last week in the MTC: We took some fun pictures with our district and I am really going to miss them, especially the ones going to Micronesion Guam.

And I am going to miss Sister West a ton, even though she is here in New England.

OHHH….so I had LOADS of food because my mother is an angel and the most wonderful person on earth, but I also am physically incapable of eating it all. So, I gave a ton to the Elders and I was the favorite missionary that day!

Also, I SAW KARLEIGH AT THE MTC!!! Wow, It was so special and it made me so happy to just be able to give her a hug and talk for a bit. It didn't throw me off at all either. It just made me happy :)

AND I took some of these pictures right where my family had been 2 DAYS BEFORE! So that was crazy!

Okay, so we had to leave the MTC at 3 am (blah) to go to the airport. But traveling with all the other missionaries was way fun! One of our pictures shows a creative way we tried to stay away from worldly temptations on the plane ;) Down side though is that 11 of our group’s bags got lost so that was sad but it all worked out as we got them all within the next couple days.

First night in NH mission home was good.... but the evening of it was honestly not so good. We went finding in this park and I was honestly terrified. I'm not really shy, but it was like a super sketchy part of the city. And almost everyone we talked to told us to be careful and they said to be worried if we were planning on being out after dark. So I was freaked out! But I feel much much better here in Bath, Maine! :)

Next week I will begin telling more about the PEOPLE! Because that is what is is really all about!! But I have limited time and a lot to do!!

We help our investigator Carol Ann in a community garden every week. While we were weeding I got some kind of bug bite by my eye and then the next day my WHOLE EYE SWELLED UP!! It was terrible and I felt like I would scare everyone away! But we just had to make do and go out and keep working. But I included a picture for your entertainment. It is SUPER embarrassing, but also hilarious, so enjoy! hahahah (it took a couple days to go down so my eye is a little squished in some other pictures as well)

My area is beautiful and everyone is so nice and the river is right by main street and I love it:)   We have visited a lot of members and brought them brownies so I could meet them. We teach a lot of inactives to try to help them and then we have a few investigators, but we are hoping to get more! My first official investigator lesson in the field was with a guy named Brian and I extended the baptismal invite! He is in a really low place right now but he is looking for help and I know that if he keeps learning, the Church can help him. And he has such a good heart.

Oh one more thing!!! We are going to the High Priest Group LOBSTER SOCIAL on Saturday!!!!!! So I will get ot have real Maine Lobster and probably entertain everybody because I don't know how to crack it open! Hahaha. So that will be fun! :)

BATH, MAINE

Okay LOVE YOU ALL! thank you so much for your support!!!

Love, Sister Brady :)

Week 3 - Arrival in New Hampshire!

(For those who want to send Jenna a message, here is her e-mail: jenna.brady@myldsmail.net)

Hello!! I am in the mission home! We are super exhausted. As soon as we got here we tried to pick up our luggage, but 11 of our bags are missing :( I have both my big bags just not my small one. :(
And then we went street contacting right away and honestly it was intimidating just because it was a sketchy part of town.
BUT on the plane....I met this women named Margaret and we talked the entire ride and it was amazing and she is so sweet and we had such a wonderful wonderful discussion!

I got her  email and number, but she lives in Texas so I'm not exactly sure what to do next :) but the spirit was definitely there!

I love you so so much!!

I will find out my comp and area tomorrow :)

love,

Jenna got to call home from the airport this morning at 5:30 am.While she was talking on the phone with us, our neighbor saw her and took this picture for us!

Two Days before Jenna left the MTC she got to see her Bestie Karleigh as she toured the MTC with her family! Karleigh enters the MTC next week and will serve in Santa Rosa, CA. A whole country and 18 months might separate these two but they will always be tight sisters during their service.

President and Sister Blair met their new missionaries with open arms at the airport today. Sister Blair posted this fun video of their missionaries arriving at the airport.

Week 2 MTC - THE CHURCH IS TRUE

Hello Hello!!!

It has been a beautiful week in the beautiful MTC! We are finally familiar with the schedule and how things work around here! Not much is different than last week so this will be short :) We welcomed the new sisters and they are so sweet! Also some of the sisters in our zone flew out this morning so that was really sad saying goodbye to them last night :(  But tomorrow we will welcome 4 more!

Teaching our TRCs (investigators) last week went wonderfully! It is funny how you can truly feel of the love of God for these people, even if you just know them a short time and even if they are possibly just actors to help you practice. It is so cool to look for the spirit, and to gain guidance while planning, studying and teaching. Makayla accepted the invitation to be baptized and Amy was building her faith in her relationship with God. :)

We got two new TRCs! Alicia and Chaney, and they are a bit harder, but it will be great for us to depend on the spirit even more!

We helped with tours again and I got to see a couple more people I know so that was so fun!

Also, on Sunday we have our Sunday night devotional and Jenny Oaks Baker and her family came and performed and it was so cool!! Really, really, beautiful! Then they made an announcement that they wanted us all the watch the "Character of Christ" talk by Elder Bednar. (Which I think I talked about last week, and it is AMAZING!!!) Sister West and I were already wanting to stay and watch it again. And we learned even more! Ah, so wonderful! ...and then GUESS WHAT!! They said we had a special surprise, and ELDER BEDNAR WAS HERE!!! hahaha it was like one of those shows like on Ellen when a celebrity comes out and everyone is so excited, but times 10 better and plus the spirit hahah! It was wonderful! He started out in the overflow, then came to where we were and did a huge Q and A!

One of my favorite things he said was in response to a sister missionary's question of telling the difference between the Spirit/God's Will vs. your own thoughts your own will. And he said an answer that made me come to the conclusion that it isn't about our Will vs. God's, it is making Our Will the same as His Will. And that just shed a new perspective.

Anyway, it was wonderful and I love being here, and I can't believe it is only about a week until I fly out! AH so exciting!

Love you ALL!!

love,
SISTER Brady :)

Highlights of the week were packages!

Also I love Amber and we cried cause we were so happy to see each other haha!

Week 1 MTC

Hello all my lovely friends and family!!! I LOVE YOU ALL and guess what else, YOUR HEAVENLY FATHER LOVES YOU ALL!

Wowowow we are so so blessed to have the knowledge that we do, because even just in the 6 days that I have been here, I have begun to see how the gospel really does apply to every. single. aspect of our lives! And that God is so real and loves all of His children and that Christ's sacrifice for us is irrepayable and ahh it is just so amazing!!

My companion's name is Sister West and she is 27 and from here in Provo! She is so sweet and kind and has such wonderful things to add to our studies and is such an example to me in prayers. She is so good at praying for everything and it is inspiring!

Our district is just Sister West and I and 14 Elders!! They are all great and work hard and want to be here :)

Our schedule is busy busy busy and I love it!! I love knowing exactly what I am going to do and exactly when haha and I love that i get to spend all this time studying about the best thing ever!!! It is also very busy because we have been called as the Sister Training Leaders and it adds a bit to our schedule but I am sure with God's help it will be a blessing!

So as soon as we got here it was classes and then teaching RIGHT AWAY! and it is hard but so good for us! It is so great to have all this practice listening to the spirit in preparing and teaching-and all our investigators are so different but the gospel has something for each of them!ah so amazing!

The only downs are I get hungry in the evenings because dinner is way early hahaha and I am FREEZING at night!! hahaha

Well,  I promised I would keep this short-but I'm sending my love and I am so grateful to be here!! I have studied so much about the atonement of Christ in the last few days and it is changing my life!! SO I really encourage you to study it more as well :)

We are trying to be obedient and have FUN because, "obedience brings blessings, exact obedience brings miracles".  :)

LOVE YOU ALL

love,

Sister Brady!!!! :):):):):)

P.S I don't have all your emails-so if you want to talk to me you gotta email me first :) haha

P.P.S YOU ARE AMAZING
